three days...

Today was our last rehearsal before we leave on Friday morning. Both teams (standard and latin) were there, and we danced the medleys one after the other, standard, latin, standard, latin, video watching break (we filmed each run through), standard, latin. Afterward, we packed our costume cases with all of the costumes we need for our show, as well as our practice clothes and individual costumes for competing in Blackpool.

I still can't believe I'm actually going.

I have been waiting and waiting and waiting to go to Europe, to Blackpool, to France I swear ever since I knew these places existed. And now I'm leaving in two days (two days?! ah!!), and I must confess I am terrified.

What if I can't understand anyone in France (I already know I won't for at least a little while, but what if I never catch on?) What if I hate my internship? What if the old French people are mean to me? What if I live with crazies? What if I run out of money? What if I have no clothing for France (I'm only taking 22 lbs of stuff plus a carry on when I leave for England. I'll send normal clothes, aka jeans and shirts that aren't overtly dressy, with my mom and sister when they meet me in Paris)? What if I get lost in Paris? What if I hate Toulouse? What if I have zero friends and get super lonely?

What if, after all this time of dreaming and wishing and hoping, France is one big disappointment?

I'm not too worried about the last one. Pretty sure I'll fall hopelessly in love with this country. But I really am nervous about speaking and being able to understand what I'm supposed to be doing for my internship.

It worries me to not really be able to communicate with people back home. I've got Skype, I've got a European cell phone, I've got email, but it's not the same. 2.75 months is a long time! Especially to be totally on my own for the most part.

Scary, scary, scary.

But so worth it....right?
Reassure me, please.
